Which brake controller is suitable to use?

Trailers that do not exceed 0.75 tonnes GTM with single axle, do not require brakes. This unit is designed with these trailers in mind that do have brakes. ( lighting trailers, small campers & small hire trailers)

Trailers that exceed this 0.75 tonnes require a brake controller that is controlled from the driver’s seat. The RBC & EBC units are suitable for both these applications.

What are GSL Electronics’warranty terms and conditions?

In the unlikely event that a technical issue arises with a GSL product, and prior to returning products and/or making a claim, customers are requested to initially contact the supplier and/or the GSL Technical Support Desk on (02) 9620 9988 or info@gsl.com.au for prompt and efficient diagnosis, product support and advice and/or to minimise any costs that may arise to the customer, the supplier and/or GSL.

As a measure of comfort, our products do come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law

The customer is entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

The customer is also entitled to have the products repaired or replaced if the products fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

GSL Electronics (GSL) warrants that its products will, under normal use and service, be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the date of the original purchase by the customer as marked on the customer’s original invoice.

While GSL warrants that the products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal circumstances, to the extent permitted by law, GSL does not warrant that the operation of the products will be uninterrupted or error free.

The agents, officers and employees of any authorised distributor or reseller of GSL products are not authorised to vary or extend the terms of this warranty or the following information.

This warranty does not cover incorrect installation by a person who is not, or is not under the direct supervision of, a qualified auto electrician or technician, ordinary wear and tear, exposure to weather or other conditions outside of the product design, damage caused by the failure of non GSL products or indirect or incidental damage of whatever nature outside the control of GSL, abuse, negligence, vandalism, alteration of products or damage caused by the customer or their agents.

This warranty does also not cover when the product had been purchased for the purpose of resupply, that had not been authorised in writing by GSL, or where the product has been purchased from an unauthorised GSL seller as we have no control over the storage, handling, quality or safety of products sold under these circumstances.

We suggest that customers contact us on info@gsl.com.au, prior to purchase, to get written confirmation that the seller is ‘GSL authorised’ and therefore that the product is covered by our warranty.

A customer shall only be entitled to the benefit of the warranty after all amounts owing in respect of the product have been paid.

To make a warranty claim, the customer must firstly, within 1 month of becoming aware of the potential claim, contact the supplier and/or GSL on (02) 9620 9988 to obtain a GSL Return Authority Number (RA Number) and download and complete the GSL Return Authority Form.

The customer must then, without delay, deliver the completed GSL Return Authority Form and the product, at their cost, to the original place of purchase or to any other place which may be nominated by either GSL or the authorised seller from where the product was bought, in order that a warranty assessment may be performed. The customer must also deliver the proof of purchase documentation evidencing the date and place of purchase.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GSL's determination of the existence of any defect and the cause of any defect will be conclusive.

If the product is found to be working satisfactorily upon return to GSL or that GSL determines that the terms of the warranty have been breached to an extent that voids the warranty claim, the customer must pay GSL's reasonable costs of testing and investigating the product in addition to subsequent shipping charges. Where GSL is in possession of the product, the product will be returned to the customer upon receipt of the amount charged by GSL.

In the event that the claim is determined by GSL to be for a minor failure of the product then GSL reserves the right to repair or replace at its discretion.

In the event that a major failure is determined by GSL, the customer will be entitled to a replacement or a refund as well as compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loos or damage.

Naturally, we expect the customer to take all reasonable steps to minimise any claim against GSL and to obtain our written authorisation to incur costs on our behalf before incurring such costs.

GSL may, in its sole discretion, deliver another type of product or component of a product (different in size, colour, shape, weight, brand and/or other specifications) in fulfilling its obligations under this warranty, in the event that GSL has discontinued manufacturing or supplying the relevant product or component at the time of the warranty claim, or where such product or component is superior to that originally purchased by the customer.

Any replaced products or components of products shall become the property of GSL.

If any part of this warranty can be read in a way that makes it illegal, unenforceable or invalid, but can also be read in a way that makes it legal, enforceable and valid, it must be read in the latter way. If any part of this warranty is illegal, unenforceable or invalid that part is to be treated as removed from the warranty but the rest of the warranty is not affected.

This warranty is in addition to any other rights or remedies that the customer may have under State or Federal legislation.
